Man killed in Millbrook camper fire

Millbrook firefighters are investigating a camper fire that claimed the life of a man.

Capt. Doyle Campbell with Millbrook Fire Department tells Action 8 News that the fire happened around 12:48 p.m. Tuesday at the K and K Campground in the 1800 block of I-65 Service Road.

Capt. Campbell says when firefighters arrived, they found one camper three-quarters involved. Due to the winds, the fire quickly spread to a nearby camper.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in 11 minutes.

The victim, who was in the second camper, has been identified as 64-year-old Keith Alan Wilbanks.

Capt. Campbell said the fire has been ruled accidental in nature. The cause was due to an electric fireplace in the first camper.
