The alabama boys inaugural fundraising gala
Hundreds of people gathered at the RSA Activity Center in downtown Montgomery for the Alabama Boys Foundation Fundraising Gala Sunday night.
Guests were able to enjoy dinner and refreshments along with music as they talked with their family and friends throughout the night as people spoke at the fundraiser. The event was held to raise money for the Alabama Boys Foundation.
The Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports literacy and academic success for the elementary students in the city of Montgomery. The keynote speaker was Wallace Gilberry, who is a former Alabama football and NFL player.
President of the Foundation, Gerald Williams, believes tonight helps them spread awareness about the work they do.
“We love our young people, and we really understand the importance of making sure we empower our young people. That is so important, so you’ll see us expanding to areas, not only just education, reading, and literacy, but you’ll see us start to expand into mentorship. You’ll see us starting to expand into leadership, because we feel that we need to approach the entire student, and ultimately, we feel that is very contagious. We reach one, and then eventually it begins to catch on. We’re so excited about the opportunity tonight to make sure we continue to raise awareness for our causes, and continuing to raise awareness for our initiative,” said President of the Alabama Boys Foundation, Gerald Williams.
The foundation is hoping to expand their work in to South Alabama this year.
