Local Artists Asked to Share Montgomery’s Story for Black History Month

The Montgomery County Probate Court is hosting a Black History Month art exhibition titled Through the Artist’s Eye: Montgomery’s Black History, inviting local artists to submit original works celebrating Montgomery’s Black history.

Selected pieces will be exhibited February 13–28, 2026, at the Juliette Hampton Morgan Memorial Library.

This exhibition offers strong visual elements and opportunities to highlight local artists, community history, and cultural storytelling.

Montgomery County Probate Judge J.C. Love talked to Action 8’s Estee Morrison about how the exhibition creates space for artists to use their vision to connect the past to the present and inspire the future.

Submissions should be sent to Montgomery County Archives, attention Dallas Hanbury, County Archivist, via email at dallashanbury@montgomerycountyal.gov, or delivered in person to:
101 South Lawrence Street
Montgomery, AL 36104
