Pay It Forward: Rosa Watkins of Montgomery

We’re told that any time there is a need, Rosa Watkins of Montgomery is the first one to step up to respond. No matter how big or small the task, those around her say they can always count on her.

Her friends and family say you can always find her helping them get to and from doctors appointments or volunteering at her church’s food bank.

And she never expects anything in return.

“I hear that there is a need and then I just respond. And one of the things that has helped me more than anything is the love of god. I’m really trying to show the love of god to other people,” says Watkins.

Those that know her best say Watkins spends her time lightening the load for those around her, including washing clothes or baking cakes.

“We also have an aunt, we call her our aunt, in the nursing home. She goes over and looks after her, washes her clothes, picks up items she needs,” says Annie Ware, who nominated Rosa for Pay it Forward.

“She’s naturally friendly. Don’t meet a stranger. Not just family but a person that goes over and beyond. So that really means a lot,” says Anita Leige, a family friend.

That is why Stewart Vance with the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to her.

Watkins says she was very suprised to be chosen.

‘”When you are a giving person and doing stuff, you don’t look for a reward. God gives us a reward. So I never would have in a million years thought that this is why I was over here,” says Watkins.

She plans to continue to give to others with her $333.

“I have a few little things financially. But giving it back. That’s what its all about. I was just thinking today that i would love to send someone so and so, and I was looking and my funds didn’t look, so its going to be giving back. A lot of it will be given back,” says Watkins.
