Fire damages Montgomery apartment building
A fire has left a Montgomery apartment building with damage.
The fire happened just before 11AM yesterday in the 500 block of Eastdale Road South, which is in area near Atlanta Highway and Eastern Boulevard.
Montgomery Fire/Rescue officials say the two-alarm fire was contained to the second floor of the building, which contained eight apartment units. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and flames.
Firefighters conducted searches of all apartments to ensure no occupants were inside. The damage was confined to the rear and attic areas of the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No one was hurt.
Montgomery Fire/Rescue emphasizes the importance of functional smoke detectors and encourages residents to develop and practice fire escape plans.
