More cloudy, very warm for the rest of the week, rain returns Friday

Wednesday morning was somewhat gloomy with a gray, overcast sky. Some locally dense fog formed early, reducing visibility to one-quarter mile or less at times. However, that was gone by midday, though the sky was still overcast early Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday may remain mostly cloudy to overcast, though temperatures could still warm into the mid and upper 70s. Light, stray showers appear possible, but most of our area remains dry.

Wednesday night looks mostly cloudy and mild, with lows in the mid to upper 50s. Fog may form again early Thursday morning. However, Thursday afternoon may become rather sunny. Thursday could be our warmest day of the week, with high temperatures in the low 80s. Rain returns Friday as the next cold front arrives in Alabama. The front slows to a crawl as it moves into central Alabama. That keeps scattered rain and some thunder around throughout the day.

Rain also lingers into Saturday, while the front remains nearly stalled out across the state. However, the front picks up forward speed late Saturday, ending rain chances north to south with time. Saturday night trends drier and colder as the cold front pushes through our area. Sunday feels like winter once more, with high temperatures only in the 50s despite sunshine. Northwest winds may also be brisk Sunday into Monday, making it feel even colder.

Tuesday may remain cooler despite sunshine. However, temperatures trend warmer Wednesday and beyond. Highs may be back in the mid 70s for the end of next week.
