ACTION 8 UPDATE: Selma police launch murder investigation after shooting victim dies

ACTION 8 UPDATE: A murder investigation is now underway in Selma after a shooting victim died of his injuries.

According to police, 58-year-old Antrone Johnson of Selma was shot February 11 in the 2000 block of Griffin Avenue.

Johnson drove himself to the police department after the shooting, then was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He died on Saturday, February 21.

A $5,000 dollar reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Police say they were at 1300 Alabama Avenue when Johnson drove up in a pickup truck, saying he had been shot.

Officers saw a gunshot wound to his chest and a significant amount of blood inside the truck. The truck also showed multiple bullet strikes, including damage to the hood and windshield.

Johnson told officers the shooting happened in the area of Leroy Street and Griffin Avenue.
