Man arrested on list of charges after police chase in Opelika
A man has been arrested on a list of charges following a chase in Opelika, police say.
Police say they tried to pull over 53-year-old Bill Bret Brown of Dora for a traffic stop just after 11:30 this morning.
They say he refused to stop and led officers on a chase onto Interstate 85 southbound. The pursuit ended near Exit 60, where he was taken into custody.
Police say they searched the pickup truck he was driving and found illegal drugs and a handgun. They say they discovered the truck was reported stolen in the Birmingham area.
Records also indicated that Brown had an active arrest warrant in Dora for possession of a forged check, police say.
Brown was charged with receiving stolen property, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude and resisting arrest.
