ACTION 8 UPDATE: Tuskegee dialysis center to stay open one more month

ACTION 8 UPDATE: A dialysis center in Tuskegee that was set to close this month will now stay open a while longer.
U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures (D-Alabama) says he’s asked that Fresenius Kidney Care delay its plans to close for one month. He says the company has agreed to stay open until May 17.
Figures says Tuskegee Mayor Chris Lee had asked for his help when the center said last month that it would close in 30 days, which would have been today.
As Action 8 News has reported, nearly 50 patients use the dialysis center several times a week and they were worried about where to go.
Figures says the company says it will make sure all patients have new care plans, and a transportation plan if they qualify and already receive it.
