ACTION 8 UPDATE: Autauga County Sheriff Mark Harrell has released new information about a woman’s body found in a creek in the hopes that someone can help identify her.

As Action 8 News has reported, the body was found yesterday afternoon in Mulberry Creek, which is near the Dallas County line near County Road 83. Sheriff Harrell says the body could have traveled through Autauga, Dallas or Chilton counties before it was discovered.

He says an autopsy has now been completed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science. The autopsy concluded that the body is that of a Black woman, about 45-55 years old. She was about 5’3″ tall and weighed about 130 pounds.

The woman had short black hair, no tattoos, and the only noticeable scaring is from a Cesarean “C” section. Usable fingerprints cannot be lifted from the body at this time, Harrell said. DNA has been taken and sent for testing.

The woman had on multi-colored top, black jacket and dark colored pants.

The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this case as a death investigation until further autopsy results return. If you have any information, contact the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office at (334) 361-2500.
