4th Annual Float Race at “Hootenanny” at Montgomery Whitewater
Hundreds showed up to Montgomery Whitewater on Saturday for the 4th Annual “Hootenanny” Float Race.
Over a hundred participants joined in on the fun by grabbing themselves a float and riding the rapids.
The goal of the race is to stay on the float and cross the finish line before the other floaters. Many people brought all kinds of different floats from a Barbie car to a sparkling dragon.
It was a good way for everyone to get together and enjoy the water.
“We had 150 plus people in the float race this year, and it’s just exciting to be able to get in a pool float and run down the whitewater. That’s not something you can typically do just in Montgomery, Alabama, so the novelty of it brings people out,” said content creator for Montgomery Whitewater, Abby Smith.
“Somewhere by the bridge, I fell off, but I was able to hold on to the float, and then I just did nose up toes up and made it all the way down,” said Jason Hochsbrung, floater in the “Hootenanny” Float Race.
The entire “Hootenanny” event lasted from 10a.m. to 3p.m. Saturday.
