Pike Road Schools superintendent announces retirement
Pike Road Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford has announced his retirement after four years of leading the school system.
During last night’s Board of Education meeting, Dr. Lankford and the school board reached an agreement on a transition plan that prioritizes the completion of the school system’s ongoing capital projects.
Lankford plans to resign as superintendent effective June 30. Starting July 1, he will take on a new role as assistant superintendent. That is so he can oversee projects including the construction of a new high school, renovations at the intermediate school and new roads for the elementary and high schools.
Once those projects are finished, he plans to retire January 1, 2027.
The school board will be launching a search for a new superintendent.
