Man convicted in Montgomery County as part of child sex trafficking investigation
A man arrested as part of a child sex trafficking investigation has been found guilty in Montgomery County jury of attempting to exploit and endanger children.
Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver says Key Darine Dashun Coley was convicted of traveling to meet a minor for a sex act and the electronic solicitation of a child.
In December 2023, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Montgomery Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, conducted a sex trafficking investigation that led to the arrest of Coley and 14 other people, Oliver said.
According to the evidence presented at trial, Coley used a website to solicit and target individuals for sex. He then began messaging a person who indicated they were 14 years old and agreed to have sex with them in exchange for money. Coley also offered to provide marijuana to the person he believed to be a child. He later drove to a designated location and was arrested upon entering the room with marijuana in his possession, Oliver said.
In addition to Coley, 6 of the 15 individuals arrested have already pleaded guilty and are serving prison sentences. They are Leon Johnson, Jarvis Frost, Flanzy Harris, Quentin Jones, Johnny Timmons and Charity Wright.
“Child exploitation and sex trafficking are deeply harmful crimes that leave lasting impacts on victims and families,” Oliver said. “I commend all the law enforcement officers and prosecutors who were instrumental in securing the conviction of an individual who exploited and endangered children and thank them for their diligent work. This outcome reflects a strong commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community and holding offenders fully accountable for their actions.”
