Local veterans group to host chili cookoff fundraiser

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A local veterans organization is getting ready for its first-ever chili cookoff.

Veteran Education, Training & Support, Inc., or VETS, in Tallassee is raising money to benefit programs that help veterans in the area.

The cookoff will take place on Saturday, April 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at their facility located at 2711 Kent Road in Tallassee.

Officials with VETS say their mission is to provide support programs for veterans in hopes to decrease suicide rates and improve mental health while enhancing their overall wellbeing with education and training in trade arts.

Action 8’s Estee Morrison sat down with Rob Dinsmore and Summer Ronso to learn more about the event and their organization. You can watch that interview above.
