MILLBROOK, Ala. (WAKA) – Millbrook police say a Prattville woman faces several charges after a police chase that led officers onto Interstate 65.

Police say 28-year-old Julianna Wood is charged with felony attempting to elude, reckless endangerment and multiple traffic violations.

Police say at around 3:40PM on Thursday, April 2, an officer saw a speeding vehicle on Highway 14, near Wisteria Place, weaving in and out of traffic. They say when the officer tried to get the driver to stop, the car went even faster.

Police say Wood then turned onto Monument Drive, then got onto Main Street, before turning onto Browns Road, continuing toward Alabama Highway 14.

They say she eventually turned toward Prattville, getting onto I-65 nothbound. Once on the interstate, they say at times, she reached speed in excess of 100 miles per hour. Then police say she got off at exit 186 and drove onto U.S. Highway 31, going through the Laurel Hill community, circled back to Highway 31 to I- 65, proceeding southbound on I-65, finally coming to a final stop near mile marker 182.

They say Wood was taken into custody without incident or injury.

Wood was placed under arrest and is being held at the Elmore County Jail on a $36,000 bond.

The officer who first say her said her car had sustained damage and felt due to the reckless manner that she was driving, that she may possibly have been involved in and was fleeing from the scene of a wreck. Once she was taken into custody, police say Wood said her reason for leading them on a chase was that she was wanted on outstanding warrants from a neighboring county, which proved to be incorrect.
