Hundreds come out to “Politics in the Park” candidate forum in Pine Level
Many local and state officials gathered in Pine Level to campaign and talk with eligible voters Saturday.
Hundreds showed up to hear from Republican candidates for many different statewide and local races. There were candidates running for Sherriff, judicial positions, Congress, and Lt. Governor, among others.
There were food trucks grilling burgers for those that came, and kids were able to play in inflatables as well. It was a perfect opportunity for voters to meet the candidates that are on the ballot in May.
“We have to educate ourselves and are families. We have to find out what the candidates stand for. When they don’t do what they’re supposed to do, hold them accountable, and when they do what they said they we’re gonna do, continue to support them,” said Pine Level resident, Bill Harris.
“For instance, the presidency and all that stuff, yes, it is important with voting, but the president is not coming into our communities and seeing what’s happening, but the people that live down the road from you running for these positions, they’re seeing and feeling what’s happening,” said Josh Weldon, Montgomery resident.
“The Republican Primary is coming up quickly, May 19th, so there are very few opportunities left to make you an informed voter. The best way to become an informed voter, is not what your friends or neighbors tell you, go and find out for yourself,” said Clanton resident Renee Powers.
