Opelika man arrested for rape and sodomy

OPELIKA, Ala. (WAKA) – An Opelika man is now in custody on rape and sodomy charges.

Opelika police arrested 36-year-old Navion Raye Cooper on April 9 for 1st degree rape and three counts of first degree sodomy.

Details regarding the case were not made available, but officials say an investigation began on March 25 after the victim reported that the abuse had been occurring over several years.

Cooper was booked into the Lee County Jail.
