High school coach arrested on allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with a student
TROY, Ala. (WAKA) – A high school teacher and assistant football coach in Troy has been arrested for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
43-year-old Anthonio Demond Brundidge was taken into custody by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office around 5:45 p.m. Sunday. He is charged with School Employee Engaging Sex Act with a Student.
Sheriff Russell Thomas tells Action 8 that the arrest stems from a report over the weekend regarding an inappropriate relationship between Brundidge and a female student at Charles Henderson High School.
Brundidge was employed for roughly two years with Troy City Schools, where he has served in multiple roles, including In-School Suspension Coordinator, Assistant Football Coach and Assistant Baseball Coach.
Troy City Schools Superintendent Mrs. Cynthia Thomas released this statement to Action 8 News:
Troy City Schools is aware of allegations involving a member of our coaching staff. We take these matters extremely seriously, as the safety and well-being of our students are our highest priorities.
Law enforcement has been notified, and we are cooperating fully. The employee has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and related charges.
Due to the sensitive nature of this matter, the ongoing investigation, and privacy considerations, the district is unable to provide any additional information at this time. However, we want to assure our families, staff, and community that Troy City Schools is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all students.

Brundidge is currently being held at the Pike County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
