Georgia man in Custody following Two Counts of Attempted Murder and Home Invasion in Greenville
According to Chief Justin Lovvorn, just before 5 a.m. Saturday April 25,2026, law enforcement was called to New Searcy Road. There they found a male suspect detained by citizens of New Searcy Road, Greenville. Upon investigation Greenville Police and the Butler County Sheriff Department discovered two victims within the residence suffering with gunshot wounds. The Butler County Sheriff’s Department detained the suspect held by the two individuals and Greenville Police Department officers cleared the house where the incident occurred and obtained medical assistance for the two injured individuals inside.

The Greenville Police Department transported the suspect, Georgia resident Tyler Brown (31) to the station, where he stated he had met a female online who lived at the location where the incident occurred. The relationship had ended but the suspect did not take it well. He then took a firearm and drove from his home in Georgia to Greenville, where he confronted the female at her residence, injuring her and another individual who lived there.
The Greenville Police Department would like to thank the two citizens who happened to be in the right place at the right time to assist in identifying the suspect in this case and the Butler County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance during this incident as well. Never give too much personal information, including your address, to anyone until you have fully researched and verified their identity, intentions, and compatibility. Always meet in a public place and limit the type information you share when developing a relationship.
The two injured individuals were taken to the Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama in Greenville and then transferred to another hospital. They were both in serious but stable condition at the time. The suspect, Tyler Brown, was arrested and charged with Burglary First Degree and Two counts of Attempted Murder with a $300,000 bond. Additional charges are also pending.
