Man convicted of Labor Day 2023 double shooting at Montgomery hotel
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man has been convicted of a double shooting inside a Montgomery hotel on Labor Day 2023, which left a woman dead and a teenager injured.
Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver says that Brendan Thomas has been found guilty of the shooting, which happened at a hotel in the 1400 block of Eastern Boulevard.
20-year-old Adrianna Conville was killed, while DeVris Bilbrew, who was 17 at the time, was left permanently paralyzed.
Oliver said Thomas was convicted of murder and attempted murder and could be sentenced to life in prison.
Evidence presented at trial showed that on September 4, 2023, Thomas arrived at the hotel to visit Conville. When Conville told Thomas she did not want to leave with him, he opened fire on her and Bilbrew, who was also in the room. Conville was struck in the back of her head and the rear of her thigh, while Bilbrew was hit twice in his back and once in the chest, Oliver said.
Thomas is set to be sentenced by Judge Monet Gaines on May 28.
