Can you feed four people for $20? Heart of Alabama Food Bank event puts skills to the test
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Could you feed four people for $20?
That’s the challenge behind a local cooking competition aimed at raising money and awareness for families facing food insecurity.
The Heart of Alabama Food Bank is hosting its “Budget Bites Battle,” where teams will be tasked with preparing affordable, nutritious meals on a limited budget. Organizers say the event highlights the reality many families face as they struggle to afford healthy food.
Jamie Brown, director of partnerships for the organization, said the competition is designed to engage the community in a creative and meaningful way.
Action 8’s Estee Morrison spoke with Brown about the inspiration behind the event and its impact.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.
