Central Alabama Master Gardeners’ spring plant sale set for Saturday in Wetumpka, rain or shine

WETUMPKA, Ala. (WAKA) — The Central Alabama Master Gardener Association will host its annual spring plant sale Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Elmore County Extension Office, 340 Queen Ann Road.

Organizers say shoppers who arrive early will have the best selection, with the event scheduled rain or shine.

Former River Region radio personality Darlene Dixon, who joined the association about four years ago when she retired, said a wide variety of plants will be available. She spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about some of the unique offerings.

The sale will feature herbs, annuals, vegetables, perennials, trees, shrubs, succulents, houseplants and butterfly garden plants. Many of the plants are grown by local master gardeners and are well-suited to thrive in the area’s soil and climate.

Master gardeners will be on-site to answer questions, and soil test kits will be available for purchase.

More information is available on the association’s website.
