Hundreds of new jobs coming to Brundidge
BRUNDIDGE, Ala. (WAKA) – Southern Classic Foods in Brundidge has announced an expansion that will lead to the creation of 240 new jobs.
Southern Classic Foods, which has been in Brundidge for more than 25 years, was acquired by Chicago-based Trillium Food Group last year. Trillium Foods manufactures dressings, sauces, mayonnaise, beverage mixes and syrup for the food service market, large quick-service restaurant chains and the retail market.
The expansion comes with a $12-$14 million investment into the Southern Classic Foods facility on Magnolia Boulevard.

“We’re carrying on the tradition, I guess you would say, but we are expanding into other products. We will be doing flavored syrups, we’ll be doing a lot of wing sauces and different things in this new addition, so you’ll be tasting products made in Brundidge in a lot of restaurants all across the country,” Chuck Caraway of Southern Classic Foods said.
“It’s been incredible, especially with the level of experience that Chuck and his team have. It is not easy to find the type of, first of all sites, but the quality of people that exist here in Brundidge, and it has been an exciting time and a place where we want to grow and as a result we’ve been very intentional about that,” Trillium Foods CEO Ash Reddy said.
Southern Classic Foods started with seven people, which has now has grown to more than 300 employees before this announcement. It currently produces about 130,000 pounds of items each year, which will now double.
