Trenholm State to launch automotive technicians program

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Trenholm State Community College will soon launch its automotive technicians program.

Thanks to a partnership with Ford Motor Company, the Technician Ready Accelerated Certification (TRAC) Program is the first nationwide pilot of its kind in the United States.

The program combines hands-on, lab-intensive training with Ford-supplied curriculum, industry mentorship, and direct employment pipelines through Ford-affiliated dealerships.

School officials say the program is important because it helps combat a growing shortage of certified automotive technicians, leaving dealerships and service centers understaffed at a time of rapid industry change.

Trenholm State Community College is holding a Community Open House on Tuesday, May 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. It will take place the Patterson campus on Troy Highway.

Action 8’s Estee Morrison sat down with Jason Owens to learn more about the program and what people can expect. You can watch that interview above.
