8 ON YOUR SIDE: Alabama gas prices now average $4 a gallon

8 ON YOUR SIDE (WAKA) – The average price for regular gas is now $4 a gallon in Alabama, according to AAA.

It says officially, the average is $4.006 as of today. That is still well below the national average of $4.483 a gallon.

Gas prices in Alabama have spiked in the past week, after slowly dropping over the past month. Here is a look at the statewide trend:

The highest average gas prices in Alabama can be found in our part of the state. The average price in Perry County is $4.26 a gallon, while in Wilcox County, it’s $4.23.

Only two counties in our area still have average prices below $4. They are Marengo County at $3.93 and Autauga County at $3.98.

As of today, the average price for regular gas in Montgomery is $4.04.
