Arc of Montgomery closes due to noncompliance
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Arc of Montgomery has abruptly shut its doors.
The Arc of Alabama Executive Director Tim Cooper tells Action 8 News that the location on Buckingham Drive was closed by the Alabama Department of Mental Health for noncompliance of service contracts.
Cooper says over the last several months, an investigation was initiated and the Montgomery chapter failed to respond, comply or make corrections.
Cooper says the more than 100 people that were served by the location will be relocated for services either by other ARC chapters or other providers in the area.
The Arc of Alabama and the Arc of the US has disaffiliated with the Montgomery chapter. The chapter must stop using the logo and name by June 4.
