Selma police detectives investigate city’s 5th homicide of the year

One man is dead and two others are hurt following a series of shootings in Selma over the weekend.

Police say three unrelated shootings happened at three different locations around the city — from late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

Police say 20 year old Dennis Lee Gamble was out walking his dog — when someone started shooting. They say Gamble and his dog were both shot and killed.

Police say another man was hurt in a shooting on the 2100 block of Lauderdale Street. They say the shooting happened early Sunday morning just after midnight. They say 22 year old Cedric Fuller was shot in the back — when someone fired shots into his house.

Another man was shot eight times at around 1 o’clock early Sunday morning. That shooting happened on 100 block of Washington Street. The victim has been identified as 19 year old Jacob Markell Ford. They say Ford was taken to a hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

No arrests have been made in the shootings and detectives continue to investigate.
