Autauga County Sheriff’s race headed to a runoff in primary election

The Republican Primary of the Autauga County Sheriff’s race is headed for a runoff.

Incumbent Sheriff Mark Harrell faced off against three challengers in the race.
And voters have now cut the field down to two.

Harrell and Ty Thompson are headed for a runoff. Thompson received 39% of the vote, while Harrell received 47%.

Both candidates now have four more weeks of campaigning to do.

“Let’s keep up the fight. You know there’s a lot more work that we can do here at the sheriff’s office in Autauga County. I look forward to it. I look forward to serving the people of Autauga County,” says Harrell.

The primary runoff is June 16th.
The winner will be unopposed in the general election on November 3rd.
