to the men and women who paid the ultimate price — in service to the United States of America.

“It’s very important that we continue to commemorate this — so it’ll stay in the hearts and mind of the people.

The stars and stripes waved in the wind — as words of gratitude and respect were spoken — and wreaths were place at the foot of the Eternal Flame.

Navy veteran and American Legion Post 324 Vice Commander Darius Bettis was the guest speaker at the ceremony.

“People have died so that you can go to Burger King today — and have it your way,” said Bettis.

“We gave them a brief overview of what Memorial Day is all about. Which is simply, to honor and give thanks for those that have paid the ultimate cost by sacrificing they’re life, limbs and liberty — all in the defense of this nation.”

VFW Post 3016 hosted the Memorial Day ceremony in partnership with American Legion Post 20.
