Butler County Sheriff’s Office employee charged with theft
GREENVILLE, Ala. (WAKA) – An employee with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office has been charged with theft and has been fired.
Sheriff David Scruggs says ALEA filed the charge following an investigation, which he says involves an incident in Georgiana.
Scruggs says he was notified of the investigation on Thursday, May 21, and terminated Keeney that day.
Keeney was booked into the Butler County Detention Center today, with a $10,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office says because the state is handling this investigation, it will have no further comment at this time.
