What The Tech App of the Day: TinySongs

BY JAMEY TUCKER, Consumer Tech Reporter

Have you ever wished you could jazz up a text message to a friend to make it more special? There’s an app called TinySong that does exactly that.

Type almost any message, and artificial intelligence turns it into a custom song complete with lyrics and music. The concept is simple.

Open the app, type a message, choose a musical style, and wait a few seconds while the AI does the rest. The results can be surprisingly funny.

For example, I typed:
“Honey, I’m sorry I ate the last piece of cheesecake.”

A few moments later, TinySong created an apology song that sounded like something you’d hear on the radio.

I tried another:
“Dear dog, thank you for acting like I’ve been gone for six years every time I take out the trash.” Again, the app generated an original song based on the message.

TinySong can be used for birthday greetings, anniversary messages, Father’s Day tributes, inside jokes, apologies, or just to make someone laugh.
One message I tested was. I chose the style as reflective and by a singer-songwriter. “Dad, thanks for teaching me how to ride a bike, change a tire, and laugh at your terrible jokes. Happy Father’s Day.”

The resulting song was surprisingly heartfelt.

Users can choose from different music styles before generating a song. Depending on the message, you might get a country tune, a pop song, a ballad, or something a little more upbeat.

Not every song is a masterpiece. Some are genuinely impressive while others are unintentionally hilarious. But that’s part of the fun.

Think of TinySong as a singing greeting card powered by AI.
There are a couple of things to know before downloading it. TinySong is currently available only for iPhone users. The app requires a subscription that costs $9.99 per month. That’s a fairly steep price for what is essentially an entertainment app. Whether it’s worth the cost depends on how often you think you’ll use it.

If you’re constantly creating personalized messages for friends and family, you may find value in it. If you’re only curious, the novelty may wear off before the monthly fee feels justified.

Still, it’s one of the more creative uses of AI I’ve seen recently. And if you’ve ever wanted to send someone a song that says exactly what you’re thinking, TinySong makes it possible without needing any musical talent at all.
