Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed announces revitalization plan for Fairview Farmers Market
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed has unveiled plans to revitalize the farmers market on West Fairview Avenue.
Yesterday at his monthly media availability, Reed stood in front of the redevelopment site to highlight the city’s vision for the property’s future as part of broader revitalization efforts underway across West Montgomery.
For years, the Fairview Farmers Market has connected residents with fresh food, supporting local growers and vendors while providing a gathering place for the community. Planned improvements will transform the site to support small businesses, expand access to fresh food and create new opportunities for residents and entrepreneurs.
The market project is one component of a larger strategy to strengthen West Montgomery through infrastructure, housing, transportation, public safety and neighborhood investments.
Mayor Reed noted that since taking office, the City has invested more than $60 million in public projects throughout West Montgomery, including roadway improvements along Fairview Avenue, Fire Station 10, transportation infrastructure, neighborhood revitalization projects, housing initiatives such as Freedom Village and planned improvements to the Fairview Farmers Market.
“West Montgomery is alive and well,” Reed said. “West Montgomery has momentum, and it remains one of the greatest opportunities for future growth in our city.”
