Bullock County hospital gets new operator

UNION SPRINGS, Ala. (WAKA) – Bullock County Rural Emergency Hospital in Union Springs is now being managed and operated by Opelika-based East Alabama Health.

East Alabama Health says it’s stepping in to ensure that critical health care services continue for residents in and around Bullock County. The management agreement is effective immediately.

Following the departure of Bullock County Rural Emergency Hospital’s previous operator, East Alabama Health says the Bullock County Health Care Authority asked it to move in quickly to provide stability and health care services.

“Access to timely, high-quality health care is vital for every community, particularly in rural areas,” Laura Grill, president and CEO of East Alabama Health, said. “We are honored to partner with the Bullock County Health Care Authority to support their steadfast commitment to the citizens of Bullock County.”

“Together, we are working to ensure that this hospital remains a reliable and sustainable resource for the community.”

East Alabama Health says it brings extensive experience in rural health care operations and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes across the region. Under this new arrangement,  it says patients can expect continued access to emergency services and coordinated care designed to meet local needs.

“Rural hospitals are essential lifelines for the communities they serve,” said Joseph Marchant, who leads rural health initiatives at East Alabama Health and serves as chief integration and network development officer.

“Our focus is on stabilizing operations, strengthening local access to care and building a sustainable model that allows Bullock County residents to receive high-quality care close to home. The Bullock County Health Care Authority expressed its appreciation for East Alabama Health’s willingness to step in during a critical time.

East Alabama Health encompasses East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, EAMC-Lanier Rural Emergency Hospital in Valley, East Alabama Medical Center North in Opelika, the Spencer Cancer Center in Opelika, the Auburn Medical Pavilion and a host of other key medical clinics and practices that help provide a continuum of care to patients throughout an 11-county area.
