Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office opens substation inside Renaissance Hotel
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has officially opened its central district substation inside the Renaissance Hotel downtown.
In addition to the substation, a new bicycle patrol unit has been created to improve public safety in the entertainment and shopping districts in that part of the city.
The new patrol bikes are equipped with lights and sirens.
The new substation means that law enforcement, whether in uniform or not, will be a constant presence in the downtown area.
“This substation isn’t about the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Derrick Cunningham said. “It’s about us in law enforcement uniting with one another to make sure that the citizens and the tourists that come downtown will feel safe.”
The sheriff’s office opened its first substation last year at the Shoppes at EastChase.
