One person in custody, another injured after police chase in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police say a driver is in custody following a chase, which ended with a wreck and a passenger seriously hurt.

Lt. Tina McGriff told Action 8 News that police tried to stop a vehicle in the area of Gaston Avenue near Upchurch Circle earlier today. McGriff says the driver refused to stop and led officers on a brief chase, which ended in the area of South Court Street when the driver crashed.

McGriff says after a short foot chase, the driver was taken into custody, with charges pending.

She says a passenger in the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

No other information has been released.
