A new tour bus is conducting guided tours in historic Selma
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
There’s a new tour bus in Selma sharing voting rights history with tourists who visit the historic city.
Terry Chestnut of Selma owns and operates Selma Tours. He provides guided tours — detailing the people — places — and historic events connected to the movement — that made the city famous.
David Israel of Chicago brought his 8 year old daughter Sadie to Alabama — to do a civil rights tour. He says they’ve already made stops in Birmingham and Montgomery — and now they’re touring Selma.
“It’s just incredible to be you know, where Martin Luther King, John Lewis all came and so many of the people that were with them. I think it really helps her understand what’s going on and what happened,” said Israel.
“It’s important to understand history. And we saw a quote by Maya Angelou this morning. I’m not going to quote it exactly but how it’s effectively important to remember history so it can never be repeated.”
