Pedestrian hit by two vehicles, killed, in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man has been killed after being hit by two vehicles on U.S. Highway 280 in Lee County.

Alabama State Troopers say 86-year-old Cleavon Barton of Atlanta, Georgia, was walking in the road when he was hit by a tractor-trailer truck and then a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State troopers say the tractor-trailer truck was driven by 27-year-old Alvin Weekes of Locust Grove, Georgia, and the car was driven by 20-year-old Madisen Stewart of Smiths Station.

The accident happened just before 10PM last night on U.S. Highway 280, approximately 13 miles northwest of Opelika.
