PIKE ROAD, Ala. (WAKA) – As work is completed on two roundabouts in Pike Road, the Alabama Department of Transportation is seeking input on a third one along the same road.
The proposed project is at the intersection of Alabama Highway 126 and Wares Ferry Road.
It wound converted the existing intersection, which has a flashing light to get drivers to slow down or stop, depending on which direction they are heading. The proposal would include road reconstruction and realignment, signing and pavement marking upgrades, lighting modifications and other work.
ALDOT says construction would be performed in phases to maintain traffic through the intersection, and no detour is anticipated.
A public meeting is being held tonight at Pike Road Town Hall from 5PM-7PM. The purpose of the meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT says it’s interested in getting input from the people who use the route.
Not far away on Alabama Highway 126, work is being completed on two roundabouts. One is just off of Exit 16 from Interstate 85 and the other is at Marler Road. Work on those roundabouts has been going on for more than one year.
