Young girl killed in Montgomery shooting
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police say a six-year-old girl has been killed in a shooting.
The shooting happened around 2:20AM in the 400 Block of Mulligan Drive. That location is near Fairground Road.
Police say six-year-old Caylee Taylor was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound, but was pronounced dead.
Police say someone from outside shot into the house and hit the little girl.
“This is the 27th homicide in the city of Montgomery year to date, and every homicide is painful,” Montgomery Police Chief James Graboys said at a news conference this afternoon. “Myself, my officers, this community takes these cases very personally when an innocent life is taken from us. It breaks all of our hearts. My heart’s broken and I want to extend my sincere condolences to her family. I also want to make this promise that we will not rest, we we not cease, until we identify and hold those responsible. We will identify them. We will charge them. They will face justice.”
