Alexander City man arrested for possession of crack cocaine

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (WAKA) – An Alexander City man is in custody for possession of crack cocaine.

The Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Anthony Eugene Lewis was arrested Friday after deputies executed a search warrant at his home.

Authorities say they found him at his home trying to hide or destroy 50 grams in the toilet.

During the search, agents recovered approximately 50 Grams of Crack Cocaine, 8 Grams of Hydrocodone pills, prescription drugs, a Glock 17 9mm pistol, $226 in Cash and
a 2007 Honda Accord.

Agents also recovered items used in the manufacturing, distribution, and consumption of narcotics.

Officials say Lewis was enrolled in the Community Corrections Program in Tallapoosa County at the time of his arrest.

Lewis is charged with Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Opium, Illegal Possession of a Prescription Medication, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

He is currently in the Tallapoosa County Jail.
