Lee County bridge replacement begins Monday

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A bridge replacement project in Lee County will soon be underway.

The bridges over Choctafaula Creek, south of Exit 50 on I-85 north and south, will be replaced starting Monday.

Crews will limit lane closures to Sundays through Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Lane closures will not be permitted during Auburn home football games.

ALDOT urges drivers to obey the posted speed limit and plan accordingly for delays. Motorists should also be mindful of people and equipment in the work zone.

ALDOT awarded the approximately $18.5 million project to Newell & Bush, Inc., out of Montgomery, Ala.  The project is expected to be completed Summer 2028.
