Man sentenced to life in prison for November 2022 kidnapping and murder
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty to kidnapping and murdering a man in November 2022.
Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver tells Action 8 News that Judge Tiffany McCord sentenced Jeffrey Pruitt to life in prison for his involvement in the crime.
According to the investigation, Johnson was forcibly held in a hotel room where he was interrogated and repeatedly beaten with various objects by Pruitt and his co-conspirators.
Johnson died from the injuries he sustained in the assault, and his attackers put his body in the trunk of his car. They drove the vehicle to a remote area and set it on fire in an effort to conceal the crime.
The cases of the two other men charged with kidnapping and murdering Johnson, Reginald Renard Jones and Jonathan Antonio Hoover, are pending trial.
