Montgomery firefighters battle house fire on Cherry Street

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery firefighters have put out a large fire at a home on Cherry Street, which is between Mulberry and Ann streets.

Crews found a single-story home fully involved when they arrived. Firefighters deployed handlines and began an aggressive exterior attack to knock down the bulk of the flames before making entry into the structure.

Once conditions improved, crews moved inside to conduct primary and secondary searches while putting out the remaining fire and checking for hidden hot spots.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
