The City says the list reflects individuals who filed qualifying paperwork by the July 14 deadline. The list of candidates who ultimately appear on the ballot remains subject to change as candidates complete applicable state requirements.
Candidates have until July 19, 2026, to file their Statements of Economic Interests with the Alabama Ethics Commission.
The seat became vacant after the council voted on June 23 to remove then-city councilor Marche Johnson from office.
The removal came after Montgomery County property records showed that Johnson purchased a home in District 7 with a VA loan, which requires the military member to live in the residence.
The special municipal election to fill the District 3 vacancy will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
