Wilcox Co. Sheriff warns residents to beware of scammers

Wilcox Co. Sheriff Larry Colston is warning residents to beware of scammers claiming to be from the sheriff’s office.

He says the scammers are calling people and telling them that there’s a warrant out for their arrest — and if they don’t send money — they’ll be put in jail.

Colston says no law enforcement agency calls people about arrest warrants — or sending money. He says if someone calls you saying that — just hang up.
