Woman killed, children injured in Autauga County crash
AUTAUGA COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A woman has been killed and two children have been injured in a single-vehicle crash in Autauga County.
Alabama State Troopers say 35-year-old Kristi Matthews of Autaugaville was driving an SUV at around 2:30 this morning when it left the road, hit a culvert, went airborne and struck a ditch. Investigators say Matthews wasn’t using a seat belt, was thrown out of the SUV and died at the scene.
State troopers say a 7-year-old and an 11-year-old, who were both passengers, were unrestrained and were also ejected. They were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The crash happened on Alabama Highway 14, about two miles west of Prattville.
