Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches breaks ground on donation and storage facility
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A new donation and storage facility is expected to make a big difference for the Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches.
Organizers and local leaders came together Wednesday to break ground on the new facility that will allow them to receive, organize and distribute donated items.
All of the donations go towards supporting children living in one of the four youth ranches across the state.
The ranches provide a structured living environment where at-risk children and youth receive love, stability and a caring place to call home.
Organizers say the new facility represents a major investment in the future of the ministry and the ability to help more children in need.
In addition to the groundbreaking ceremony, the Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches received a big donation from a local running group.
The River Region Runners were on hand Wednesday to present a check in the amount of $4,000.
The funds were raised during this year’s 47th Annual Jubilee Runs, which is held each year in Old Alabama Town.
The Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches were founded in 1966 in rural Dallas County.
