SEC Media Days: Former Troy head coach Jon Sumrall takes over at Florida
TAMPA, Fla. (WAKA) – Action 8 Lace Up Sports is in Tampa, Florida, for SEC Media Days, where the highly-successful Jon Sumrall takes over as head coach at Florida.
Sumrall is well known in Alabama, growing up and playing football in Huntsville and from being Troy’s head coach in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, leading the Trojans to back-to-back Sun Belt Championships. He followed that up with two successful seasons at Tulane.
Action 8 Sports Analyst John Longshore says Sumrall has the leadership skills to be successful in the SEC, but that it will be multi-year process to get the Gators back to their former glory.
