Selma Mayor Johnny Moss, III plans to reorganize city government
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Big changes could soon be on the way to city government in Selma in the coming weeks.
Mayor Johnny Moss says he’s spent the time since taking office assessing how city government operates — and now he’s ready to make some improvements.

“Over the last nine months I’ve really just observed how we operate. And I’m going to propose a reorganization structure for the city council to review and approve,” he said.
Moss says the reorganization will streamline city government — and help it to operate more efficiently.
Part of the plan — is to consolidate some city departments — and reduce the number of department heads.
“I have 15 directors reporting to me. We want to condense that into about 4 or 5 — and merge some city departments. And I think that’s going to help us, not only save money but manage the city a little more effectively and efficiently.”
Moss says he plans to present his reorganization plan to the city council next week.
