Montgomery police investigating air conditioner, copper wiring thefts

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police have confirmed to Action 8 News that they are investigating a series of thefts involving air conditioners and copper wiring.

Montgomery police Lt. Tina McGriff says the first case was reported at around 7PM on Tuesday, July 28. Police were called to a burglary in the 7900 block of Eastchase Parkway. McGriff says the burglary involved the theft of copper from air conditioning units.

A few days later, on Thursday, July 30, at 12:15PM, officers were called to the 2200 block of East Fourth Street on another theft report. In this case, an air-conditioning unit had been removed by unknown thieves.

A third case happened just before 9:30AM on Sunday, August 2. Police were called to investigate a theft in the 1200 block of South Hull Street, where copper was reported missing from air-conditioning units.

Finally, on Tuesday, August 4, at 11:30 a.m., officers were called to the 3500 block of Midtown Oaks Apartments after air conditioning units were discovered stolen from the property by unknown people.
